Sheltered housing residents raise cash to fight testicular cancer
3:50pm Wednesday 19th September 2012 in News
SHELTERED housing residents from St Osyth held a fun day to boost testicular cancer research.
Residents from Vyntoner House held the annual event, which included a barbeque, cake and craft stalls, a raffle and entertainment acts.
Last year the residents raised £1,600 for the Essex Air Ambulance, but smashed that target this year, raising £2,272 for Cancer Research UK.
The money was presented to the charity’s area volunteer manager Darren Couchman.
He said: “It was a fantastic day and I’m so pleased that all the residents’ hard work and dedication has paid off. To raise so much money is a credit to them all.
“Without people like them, we wouldn’t be able to fund research into testicular cancer and have the success rates that we have now for this type of illness.”
