Raider helped himself to cafe ice-cream
A BURGLAR who broke into a seafront cafe for an ice-cream is being hunted by cops.
The crook forced his way into the Waterside Cafe, Brightlingsea, and was caught on camera helping himself to a frozen treat.
The burglar then left the freezer top off so everything inside had to be thrown away. The total estimated value of items stolen and damage caused was £440.
Essex Police have released CCTV footage from the raid, which took place at 11.45pm on September 3, in a bid to catch the crook.
Cafe owner Jo Willson said: “We don’t have trouble down there usually.
"It is not a bad area at all. In all the years I have been there I think we had one other break-in about 18 years ago."
Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV should contact PC Ryan Weavers at Clacton police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
