Great Bentley housing plans approved

A HOUSING development has been given the green light despite calls for it to be deferred.

Plans for 22 houses with garages and parking to be built on land to the rear of Bold Venture, Station Road, Great Bentley, were approved at Tendring Council ’s Planning Committee meeting on Tuesday September 4.

But Councillor Lynda McWilliams had asked for the decision to be deferred and voiced concerns over the development’s impact and congestion.

She said: “We are concerned about the impact 22 houses would have on the area.

“A reduced number of developments would be more acceptable.

Lesley Short, who spoke on behalf of the applicant, Mr T. G. Simmons, said there were fewer more suitable sites in the Tendring District.

“We have taken into consideration concerns by officers and we have spent many months with Essex County Council highways so they now consider it to be a suitable development.”

The application was approved by six votes to two with one abstention.
