Author unveils new book on Fidel Castro

A MENTAL health expert and author from Walton is launching his new book at Frinton’s Caxton Books and Gallery on Saturday.

Steven Walker, a former Clacton County High School student who has lived in Tendring for more than 45 years, has penned Fidel Castro’s Childhood - the untold story, a book about the dictator's mental state.

He said: “The book analyses Fidel Castro’s earliest formative experiences to reach conclusions about how he was able to become a revolutionary icon alongside Che Guevara in liberating Cuba.

“It also explores how he dared to provoke the Cuban Missile crisis 50 years ago this month when Soviet Russia and America prepared to launch nuclear missiles against each other.”

The book will be launched at Caxton Bookshop, in Connaught Avenue, on Saturday at 10am.
