Residents urged to ensure they can vote in police commissioner elections

RESIDENTS are being urged to make sure don’t lose the chance to have their say in the police commissioner elections.

Over the past two months, households across the Tendring have received an annual canvass voter registration form, which must be returned to the council by October 31.

Ian Davidson, electoral registration officer for Tendring, said: “You have to be on the electoral register if you want to have your say in the first police and crime commissioner elections.

“We estimate that around 15,000 households in Tendring have not yet returned their forms.

“Some people wrongly assume that paying council tax means you are registered to vote.

“I am therefore urging all those eligible to vote in Tendring to return their form as soon as possible so they have the chance to make their vote count.”

The election for the new role takes place on November 15.

Those who have not received the form can call 01255 686587 or print off a registration form at aboutmyvote.co.uk.
