BODY found on Manningtree railway track

 

A MAN'S body has been found on railway tracks near Manningtree.

Police investigated after receiving reports of a body on the line at around 7.48am on Friday September 7.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “British Transport Police were called to the line between Manningtree and Ipswich following a report of a body having been seen on the line.

“This was originally reported to Network Rail by a train driver as an animal strike.

"An operations manager attended the scene between Bentley and Halifax Junction and confirmed finding body parts.

“Officers are at the scene.”

Greater Anglia put on replacement bus services between Ipswich, Manningtree and Colchester while investigations were carried out.

Normal services were reinstated by 10am.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
