Clacton and Walton lifeboats kept busy by a string of incidents

WALTON lifeboat was called to help a broken down boat of the Clacton coast.

The Sea Witch broke down at about 2pm on Monday, and had to be towed to the entrance of the River Crouch where it was met by the Burnham lifeboat.

Clacton’s lifeboat crew were also called out on Monday afternoon when the alarm was raised over a possible swimmer in trouble near Frinton.

The crew arrived to find the item spotted was a floating pot-marker rather than a person.

On its way back to the station, the lifeboat was called to another unidentified object near Holland Haven.

It turned out to be a large advertising board, and was removed from the sea to save any further confusion.
