Boat marooned on Frinton beach

A BOAT was left marooned on Frinton beach for several days after litter in the sea blocked its pumps.

The ‘Much Obliged’ suffered engine problems while travelling to London from Yarmouth.

It started to head inland when a discarded chip wrapper turned into papier mache and blocked its bilge pumps.

The helmsman was forced to beach the boat on the sand in Frinton after it started to take in water.

He tried to re-launch the vessel last week in poor weather conditions against the advice of coastguards, but the incoming tide ended up flooding the boat.

He is still trying to get the boat back on the water.

If he hadn't thrown his chip wrapper into the bilge, then it wouldn't have blocked the pump.
Next time, maybe he'll put it in a bin & dispose of it properly when he gets back to the marina.

Found out today that guy has put his life savings into the boat and has lost everything. Surely we can pull together and help the guy out. It would be a sad day if we couldn't save it as this is all he has. What was disappointing is that people were laughing at him and one idiot threw 50p at him to help.
