Teenager punched in baseball bat robbery
12:15pm Thursday 30th August 2012 in News By James Dwan
A STUDENT was punched in the face after being threatened by robbers armed with a baseball bat in Little Clacton.
The 18-year-old, who is from the area, was attacked while he was walking along Harwich Road.
He was approached by two men who engaged him in conversation before threatening him with the bat.
The thugs punched the teenager in the face before stealing his mobile telephone and wallet. They then run off towards Thorpe Railway Station.
Investigating officer, PC Annalise Redden, said: "This interaction would have caused quite a noise and created quite a scene for passing pedestrians or motorists, so we’re keen to speak to them.
“We would ask people to cast their minds back to Bank Holiday Monday night and recall their movements to ascertain whether they saw this robbery.”
The attackers are described as white, in their early 20s and were about 6ft 2ins tall.
The baseball bat-wielding man is described as being of very slim build with prominent cheek bones and was wearing a blue and white hooded top. His accomplice was wearing a lime green and yellow top.
Both men had got out of silver Ford Fiesta which was driven off before the robbery took place.
Anyone with information about the attack, which happened shortly before 9.30pm on Monday, August 27, should call detectives at Clacton police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
