Readers back plans for new supermarket in Clacton

GAZETTE readers have backed plans for a new multi-million pound supermarket in Clacton.

Aldi has submitted plans for a store on the Warwick Castle site on Pier Avenue, which is used as a marketplace two days a week.

If it gets the go-ahead, the store will be directly opposite a Lidl supermarket.

A poll of readers found 51 per cent are in favour of the plans, while 33 per cent said the site should be developed, but not as another supermarket.

Fifteen per cent were opposed to the plans.
