A NEWLY appointed councillor has resigned from his post after only three months.
Chris Cowlin, who represented Holland Residents’ Association, had a majority of almost 800 in the district council by-election for the St Bartholomew’s ward.
The election took place following the death of Mary Bragg in January.
Mr Cowlin said: “I resigned due to personal reasons. I thoroughly enjoyed my role as councillor in the last three months and met some wonderful people in Holland.”
Holland Residents’Association chairman Joy Broderick said: “We are sad that Chris Cowlin has resigned from his role as Holland Residents' Association councillor for St Bart’s ward and we are grateful to him for stepping in so willingly when Councillor Mary Bragg died.
“However, both Chris and we have realised that, as he is a working man, he is not able to fulfil all the duties which are expected from a local councillor and we appreciate his honesty and understand his need to step down.
“As chairman of the Holland Residents' Association I want to ensure that all our Holland councillors are able to serve our community and protect our interests in the future.”
