Gig night bid to save bar
1:00pm Friday 6th April 2012 in News
A FUNDRAISING gig is being held to save a struggling bar.
Ronnie’s Bar on Old Road, Clacton, is in danger of closing.
A musical extravaganza night has been organised to raise funds for the bar, with the musicians agreeing to play for free.
Owner Linda Lockert-Smith has appealed for customers to support the venue.
She said: “Seeing it struggle is heartbreaking.
“Ronnie’s Bar is not like any other bar in Clacton. It is really unique.
“It provides a stage for a lot of young musicians and I think it is very important in that respect.
“It has been a huge headache but I have never given up. I have put everything I have into the bar and I am determined to keep it going.”
The musical extravaganza will take place from 7pm on Sunday.

This Pub has great potential the only problem is the lack of management skills

No drink is there in the first place.
My only concern with this fundraiser is where will the money actually go and what's to stop it not being in the same situation next month. It will be a shame as i love the music here but with out a serious change in the way this place is managed I just don't know how it will work.

ronnies started out with good intentions, but as we read, its just not been accepted as is.
perhaps a change of management, and direction could pull it back in the right direction.
its a shame to read of its struggling, but you have to provide a service that the customers want for it to fill the bank balance.
