A SCHOOL is applying for academy status in a bid to turn its fortunes around.
Hamford Primary, which has 260 pupils, was told to improve by Ofsted education watchdogs last year.
New interim headteacher Sean Wade said: “Hamford is a school that I see an awful lot of potential in and I took this job to help the pupils and help the school reach that potential.
“The school has had its struggles in the past and I am very aware of how much work there is that needs to be done, but we have excellent teachers and lovely children here.
“We are now pulling in the right direction and striving to move forward.”
The school’s first major step is to apply to become an academy.
