WE are repeatedly told that pensioners are one of the largest groups of people in this country.
It is also repeatedly said by the capitalist powers-that-be, that they are going to print billions of pounds to stimulate the economy, called quantitative easing - more money in the system to kick start the economy.
If this is the case, why not use these billions to bring the basic old-age pension up to the top EU level, giving more spending power to pensioners, which will be good for the economy?
We don’t want to hear the usual contradictory rubbish that they can’t afford it, because they are going to print it and they would get 50 per cent of it back in income tax from the better off pensioners.
This is just another glaring example of mismanagement of capitalism. If we had the right leaders, this would be put right.
