A MAN has appeared in court charged with holding up a cafe at knifepoint.
Michael Wood is accussed of attempting to rob the Low Tide Cafe in Jaywick yesterday morning.
A man entered the cafe and held a carving knife to the throat of two members of staff before fleeing empty-handed.
The 41-year-old entered no pleas to charges of attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon when he appeared before Colchester Magistrates’ Court today.
The case was adjourned and Wood, of Brooklands Gardens, Jaywick, will next appear before Chelmsford Crown Court on September 27.
He was remanded in custody.
