Lifeboat helps rescue six

COASTGUARDS were called to a 15ft speedboat that capsized, leaving two people in the water.

Thames Coastguards and Clacton RNLI Inshore Lifeboat attended the scene at 1.20pm on Saturday after several calls from the public.

The casualties were rescued and taken to the shore by a dinghy before the lifeboat arrived on scene and towed the craft to the shore.

Meanwhile, four people had to be taken to shore by lifeboat after their boat broke down.

Clacton RNLI Inshore Lifeboat towed the 19ft motor boat and its occupants to Brightlingsea after it broke down off Hutley’s Baech, in Jaywick.

The Coastguard met the craft and safety advice was given.
