A BUNGALOW suffered heavy smoke damage after a blaze broke out in Jaywick.
Firefighters from Clacton used breathing apparatus as they tackled the flames in the smokelogged building in Essex Avenue.
The blaze started in the kitchen just after 2pm today.
It took less than 30 minutes to bring it under control.
Sub officer Adrian Wallis said the owner - believed to be in his 20s - raised the alarm after coming home to find smoke billowing from a window.
"There was a small amount of fire damage in the kitchen and smoke damage to the rest of the property," he said.
No-one was injured in the incident. An investigation is being carried out into the cause of the fire.
