ROBBIE Garvey insists there will be no complacency when promotion-chasing Braintree Town visit basement boys Weymouth.

The Iron are feeling refreshed after having a weekend off and will start as favourites for the Blue Square South encounter on Saturday.

However, Garvey says his players will not be taking their hosts lightly and told the Times: “Weymouth certainly aren’t as bad as some people suggest.

“No games are easy and there won’t be any complacency on our part.

“It’s actually a quick return match as we played them recently at Cressing Road.

“We won 3-2, but let ourselves down in the second half because we had been leading 3-0.

“We went to sleep for a while but got the job done.

“And if I’m honest, I always felt confident we’d win because we still looked like we could score more goals.”

Weymouth sit rock bottom of the table, having pocketed just ten points from their 20 games.

Braintree, in contrast, have fired themselves into an excellent position and are ten points behind leaders Newport County heading into the hectic Christmas schedule.

The Iron’s festive programme includes a double-header against Bishop’s Stortford and Garvey said: “The games come thick and fast and it’s always a crucial time for any team.

“We want to make sure we come out the other side of these matches and are still in the pack chasing a play-off spot.

“I’m delighted with the way things are going at the moment and we’ve still got a couple of games in hand on some of the other teams, so hopefully we can put more distance between us and them.

“The players have been fantastic.

“There’s good competition for places and one of the things that’s impressed me most is the way they respond to getting beaten.

“No-one moans or sulks. They just pick themselves up and pull together and hopefully that’s something that will continue in 2010.”
