Clacton: Plan to build 392 new homes

AN application to build almost 400 new homes on the outskirts of Clacton has been made to Tendring Council.

Bloor Homes has formally submitted proposals for the new development on farmland north of St John's Road.

Neighbouring residents were shown a preview of the multi-million pound scheme at a special open day last month.

Work will be carried out in two stages if it gets the go-ahead.

Phase one which includes 157 flats and houses could start by the end of the year if detailed plans are approved.

An outline application for phase two - including 235 homes, a public hall, health facility, and shops - has also been made. Access to that site will be from Little Clacton Road.

The plans also include the creation of a community square and open space with a full-size football pitch.

Tendring Council has also received an application to merge three units into one at Clacton Factory Shopping Village.

The move will pave the way for high street giant M&S to move into the out-of-town shopping centre if it gets the go-ahead.
