UPDATED: St Osyth: Murder probe launched at holiday park

A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of a man at a caravan park in St Osyth.

John Sullivan, a 33-year-old man from Kirkwood Road, Peckham, died in hospital, several hours after the fight at Orchards Holiday Village caravan park, in Point Clear.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Friday afternoon but was unable to confirm the cause of death. More tests are due to be carried out.

A 38-year-old man from south-east London was arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday, and questioned by detectives at Clacton police station.

He was released on police bail on Saturday, until Wednesday July 8, pending further enquiries. Police were called to the caravan park at 11.30pm on Wednesday night following reports a fight was taking place.

Nishan Wijeratne, spokesman for Essex Police, said: “Police believe this to be a domestic related incident with family and friends on holiday at the time.”

“Officers and paramedics arrived at the scene and found a 33-year-old man from south-east London seriously ill.

“He was conveyed by ambulance to Colchester General Hospital, but sadly died a few hours later.”

Seems, roadfizzio, as is most usually the case, that the majority of problems in and around Clacton are imported ones from visitors and holiday makers.

Thankfully events such as this are rare but there is growing unrest amongst alot of locals who are getting fed up with trouble flaring up often from people from the London area.

To be frank, this town, as does any other town, does not want this sort of thing happening and if people can't act in a civilised and responsible manner when they visit then the message is clear - STAY AWAY!

My family and I were there and witnessed the whole incident. There are no winners in this matter but people who suffered a freak tragedy whilst on a family break.
It did start as a domestic disagreement and unfortunatly the end was very sad.
My family and I are traumatised by the outcome as we sat only a table away from them the whole night.
