TODAY is the 16th anniversary of the final-ever game played at Layer Road.
On April 26, 2008, Colchester United played at their beloved old home for the final time.
They took on Stoke City there in their last home game of the 2007-8 Championship season.
Geraint Williams' side were beaten 1-0 by the Potters, after Richard Cresswell's 45th-minute goal proved the winner in front of 6,300 fans.
Layer Road was built more than 100 years ago in 1907 and could hold 6,320 fans.
It was flattened in 2012 and new homes now stand on the site.
The ground was originally used by Colchester Town Football Club, but the ground was home to Colchester United for 71 years.
