A SCHOOL’S bid to put a roof on its swimming pool and open to the public for the first time in a decade has been given the green-light.
Manningtree High School floated the idea of a roof, saying it was struggling to keep up with the costs of running the pool, which opened at the Colchester Road site in 1979.
Plans were put in to Tendring Council to put an arched roof over the 25m open-air pool.
The new arched roof over the 25m open-air pool, which can currently only be used for at most three months a year, has been approved.
It is part of an ongoing project to look at securing the future of the pool.
Anybody who may be able to help advise the school on funding, grants or sponsorship is asked to email Carol Sinclair on csinclair@manningtreehigh.com
