SEVERAL acres of crops were destroyed during a "large" field fire in Little Clacton.
Firefighters from Clacton, Frinton and Walton, were called to the blaze in Harwich Road at 4.20pm on Monday.
Crews reported that around 20 acres of crops were alight when they arrived at the scene.
A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: "In order to allow firefighters to surround the fire and prevent it from spreading as efficiently as possible, the incident commander divided the area into sectors.
"At 5pm, firefighters advised that they had successfully extinguished around seven acres of the crops and were continuing to tackle the fire.
"The fire was out completely by 5.32pm."
The cause of the fire was recorded as undetermined.
