ESSEX police urge football fans to keep Tendring a "safe and fun" place for England's play-off against Belgium following the country's World Cup defeat.
Inspector Darren Deex, of the Tendring Community Policing Team, said fans across Tendring were well behaved during England's tense semi-final against Croatia on Wednesday night.
He said: "All supporters were in good spirits, especially after the first half performance, and although the mood was dampened with the result we did not see any disorder and all fans were well behaved.
"I would like to say a big thanks to everyone involved in making it a safe and fun environment for people to watch the match and hopefully England can win the playoff to round off a great tournament."
The third place play-off is on Saturday at 3pm.
