MORE than a hundred youngsters raised £3,500 towards the cost of their new Scout centre by taking part in a pier to pier walk.

Scouts, Cubs and Beavers from across Tendring walked seven miles from Walton to Clacton for the fundraiser.

The money will go towards the cost of their new district Scout centre in Valley Road, Clacton.

Scout district commissioner Kieron Moir said it was great to see so many taking part in difficult conditions.

“It is a huge boost for our headquarters and also raised our profile in the community,” he said.

“I thank everyone involved.”

Clacton Pier provided free wristbands for every youngster who raised over £20.

Those who did not make the target could buy wristbands for £2.50 to raise more money for the HQ.
