STAFF from a McDonald’s restaurant collected more than 20 bags of rubbish as part of a town centre clean-up in Clacton.

Workers from the Pier Avenue fast-food outlet were joined by residents for the initiative as part of the Love Where You Live campaign.

More than 30 managers and staff teamed up with Clacton Town Partnership chairman Graham Webb and councillor Andrew Pemberton to collect waste for two hours last Tuesday.

Managing director Craig Newnes said they collected more than 21 bags of rubbish.

He added: “I’m so proud of my staff and managers for volunteering to make our Love Where You Live event a huge success.

“I would like to thank Mr Pemberton for joining us and also Clacton Town Partnership for its support.

“I will be doing more litter events across the year and love trying to keep our community litter-free with litter-picking events like this.

“We all need to work hard to ensure Clacton is clean for its residents and visitors alike.

“I’m proud to have a business in Clacton and look forward to developing all sorts of projects in the town.”
