A SKI race is returning to the coast this weekend.

The third British Jet Ski Championships will take place off the coast of Clacton this Saturday and Sunday.

It is the third time the competition has come to Essex and will see both veterans and novices battle it out across more than 25 races.

The event, hosted by the Jet Sport Racing Association, will start at 2pm and finish at 7pm on Saturday.

On Sunday it will start at 10.30am and finish at 4pm with practice sessions taking place earlier on both days.

Tendring Council's leisure and tourism boss Mick Skeels said the event had proved popular before.

"We know large crowds gathered on our beaches to watch previous stages when held in Clacton, and we hope to see people come again to watch the racing," he said.

"Jet ski racing can be adrenalin-fuelled and is a great sport for spectators, so I would encourage you to come and watch the event."
