YOUNGSTERS from Frinton Primary School welcomed a construction team to their school for a special site safety talk.

Churchill Retirement Living is building the new Cooper Lodge development in Pole Barn Lane, near the school.

Contracts manager David Ryman and trusty sidekick Ivor Goodsite visited the school to teach pupils about safety on building sites.

Headteacher Tracey Caffull said: “We are extremely grateful to Churchill Retirement Living for visiting the school to give a talk during assembly time – it was a great opportunity for the children to discover what the workers do on site each day and to ask the builders lots of questions.

“They all enjoyed meeting Ivor especially, and it might have even inspired some of them to consider a career in construction when they grow up.”

David Ryman, contracts manager at Churchill Retirement Living, said it is important for children to understand the dangers of playing on building sites.

He added: “It was wonderful to see how enthusiastic they were learning about how we build the retirement lodges and how excited they were to see Ivor.”
