AN AUTHOR is hoping his latest book about the German occupation of Norway during the war could end up being made into a major Hollywood movie.

John Sealey’s sixth novel was published on Monday – the anniversary the invasion.

The Betrayal Of Norway follows German naval officer Kapitan zur See Otto Wilhelm Schmidt, who is ordered to return and occupy Hæranger, a small fishing town in southern Norway.

He is shocked to find the local mayor is John Hermansen – the head of the family who once took him in as an evacuee.

Hermansen’s daughter Kristin, who Otto had a romance with, is now acting as deputy mayor after her mother passed away.

John, 84, of Old Road, Clacton, said: “This book took me two years to write and I write every single day.

“Every morning I go for a walk around the pier and let the ideas run around my head.

“I might just think what I’ve written the day before is complete rubbish.

“Sometimes I upset my wife when we’re watching TV because I leap up and have to get stuff written down on paper before I forget.”

He added: “There’s quite a lot of excitement from people about this novel – it has already caught the attention of the major American movie-makers.”

John used to work in film and TV.

He was a production manager on the 1970s classic There’s a Girl In My Soup, starring Goldie Hawn.

He is married to wife Shelley, 80, who used to be a trapeze act with the Barnum & Bailey Circus.

The Betrayal of Norway is available in bookshops and on Amazon now priced £13.99.
