A MAN has been charged with robbery after attacking a member of staff at a restaurant in Clacton.
Oliver Sheppard, 28, of Park Road, Clacton, was charged with robbery following the incident at Toby Carvery, in Marine Parade West, on Sunday.
A spokesman for Essex Police said officers received reports that a man gained entry to Toby Carvery assaulted a member of staff and then drove off with his car.
The incident happened at around 12.30am.
A man was arrested following a short foot chase after the vehicle crashed into a wall in St John's Road at around 1.40am.
Sheppard is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court today.
