A CHRISTMAS late-night shopping event is going ahead in Frinton this Friday.

Shoppers will be able to enjoy extended opening hours from 5pm until 9pm on Connaught Avenue.

The street will be closed off between these hours to make way for a visit from Father Christmas and his reindeers.

Danielle Hartley, vice-chairman of the Frinton Business Group, has been organising the event with her sister Sophie Hartley since they were appointed to the new role in September. She said: “We decided to have the late-night shopping as a one-event night rather than over a couple of weeks.

“The road will be closed from 5pm so stalls and shops can set up but from 6pm to 9pm the free Christmas event will run. Late-night shopping was always a big part of our childhood and having a business in the heart of Connaught Avenue we are delighted to be able to organise this year’s event.”

Children will be able to visit Santa in Fowlers Arcade from 6.30pm and enjoy the Christmas pudding bouncy castle and themed rides.

There will also be a chance to visit animals at the petting zoo.

There will be performances from the Candelonion pipe band, Sammy B and the Harmonettes.

Danielle added: “We have received an excellent response so far.

“We would like to say a special thanks to all the business owners who have given up their time to help organise and sponsor this year’s Christmas spectacular.”
