Cash was stolen from a man in Clacton during a knife point robbery.
Police are appealing for witnesses of the incident which happened at 1am on Saturday in West Avenue.
A suspect held a knife up to a man and demanded money. He stole cash and fled the scene.
No one was injured.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "The suspect is described as being aged between 20 and 30 years old, with short mousy brown hair and was wearing a blue tshirt.
"Officers are particularly keen to speak to a group of four people who were being hassled by the suspect prior to the attack."
