MIDFIELDER Harry McDonald believes he is reaping the benefits from his spell with FC Clacton.

The 18-year-old is on loan from Brightlingsea Regent and has ambitions of forcing his way into the R’s Bostik League team.

However, in the meantime, he is enjoying gaining experience and getting first-team appearances under his belt with the Seasiders.

He was initially on loan for a month and that agreement has now been extended for another month.

“I’m enjoying playing at the moment, getting involved and, most importantly, picking up some results,” said the Colne Football Academy graduate.

“I feel it’s helping my game.

“I’m improving and I’m enjoying everything about it, from the coaching here to being with the boys in the squad.

“I clicked with everyone straight away and feel comfortable.

“For me, it’s a good opportunity to play matches at what’s a very good level of football.

“The club’s got big ambitions and I’m thankful to be part of it at the moment.

“Hopefully then I can go back to Brightlingsea and work my way back into the starting 11.”

McDonald was named among the substitutes for Friday’s 3-0 defeat at premier division high-flyers Coggeshall Town.

He came on as a 53rd-minute replacement for Jake Hearn and will be hoping for more involvement in Saturday’s next match, at home to Great Yarmouth Town (kick-off 3pm).

He still feels he has more to offer and wants to keep playing his part in what has been a successful few weeks for Clacton.

“I feel it’s gone well but I still feel I’ve got more to give,” he said.

“I still feel I can play better.

“Since I’ve been here we’ve had some very good results, taking points off top teams like Wroxham and Newmarket.

“In some cases we’ve been gutted to only get one point instead of three.

“We’re not conceding many goals and we’re hard to beat.

“We must be one of the most in-form sides in the league.

“I’m here at the moment and want to give my all to Clacton.

“But one day I’d like to go back and force my way into the Brightlingsea team.”
