PLANS to knock down the Fat Goose pub and restaurant in Tendring village and replace it with homes have been rejected for the second time.
The proposal by Fat Goose Property Developments would have seen the building in Heath Road replaced with three new homes.
If it had won approval, it would have included two four-bedroom detached properties on the land along with a micropub and flat on the first floor.
Tendring Council previously rejected a similar application for three new homes and a convenience store following the demolition of the existing buildings.
Tendring Council has now refused planning permission for the latest plans, which were also opposed by Tendring Parish Council.
The district council decided the site is in an isolated location outside the settlement development boundary of the village.
It added: “It goes against policies governing development in the countryside along with the loss of a community facility which provides employment.
“There was not sufficient evidence provided to show that it was no longer viable.
“The proposal also lacked sufficient parking or amenity space.”
