STAFF and pupils at Oakwood Infant and Nursery School have celebrated 20 years at their Windsor Avenue site with a special anniversary dinner.

The school which was originally called, St Osyth Road School, homes the Adult Education Centre.

The school has been based at their site on Windsor Avenue, Clacton since 1997 as it became Oakwood Infant School and more recently Oakwood Infant and Nursery School.

The school’s head cook, Debra Fairhead, organised the celebration, introducing the children to photos of the old school and the building they are now in and the various stages of the building being changed over the years.

The pictures also showed how the school was originally open plan but now has classrooms.

Mrs Fairhead said: “I thought it would be nice to do an anniversary dinner for all the children to celebrate us moving from the St Osyth Road site to the present one.

“It was lovely to see the children looking through old photos, recognising different parts of the building and learning some history about their school.”

The children celebrated in the hall which had a display of old photos of the school and newspaper cuttings.
