A MAN who was fighting for his life after being stabbed multiple times outside a post office in Jaywick is now in a stable condition.

The man sought refuge in Jaywick Post Office, in Beach Way, following the incident, which happened at about 11.40am on Wednesday.

Three people have been arrested in relation to the incident and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman said: "Detectives investigating the stabbing in Jaywick are asking for people who were in the area at the time, to make contact with Clacton CID.

"A man was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds, after being found near the Post Office in Beach Way.

"Police would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have been near Beach Way, Broadway, Tamarisk Road, the promenade or the beach itself, around the time of the incident.

"It is believed the attack happened in or near to Beach Way."

The victim, a man in his 40s, was airlifted to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

He is now stable and no longer in a life threatening condition, but remains in hospital.

Two men, aged 43 and 26, and a 44-year-old woman, have been arrested suspicion of GBH with intent and are in police custody for questioning.

It understood that staff from the post office came to the aid of the man after he sought refuge in the branch.

The staff then summoned help from the emergency services.
