TWO care workers have appeared in court charged with ill-treating a mental health patient in Colchester.
Scott Geeson, 26, of Winnock Road, Colchester, and Lelish Shercan, 25, of Circus Square, Colchester, appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
They were both charged with wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and faced a charge of care worker ill-treating or wilfully neglecting an individual.
It is alleged a vulnerable adult who was in their care was left with a number of injuries, including severe bruising to his chest, after a situation arose on June 24, 2016, in which force was used to restrain the patient.
Magistrates declined jurisdiction and no pleas were entered.
Geeson and Shercan, who were both released on unconditional bail, will next appear for a pre-trial preparation hearing at Ipswich Crown Court next month.
