STEVE Eaton continued his rich vein of form by scoring twice in Holland FC’s 3-2 victory against Team Bury.

The striker netted both goals in last week’s FA Vase first qualifying round showdown at Wivenhoe Town and maintained his purple patch with a double in Saturday’s Thurlow Nunn League first division success at the Rush Green Bowl.

Blake Panrucker was also on target, with Paris Tuwizana notching both goals for Team Bury.

The brace took Eaton’s tally for the season to 11 goals.

Holland had been three-up at half-time but let their visitors back into the game.

“In the end we were relieved to hear the final whistle,” admitted joint-boss Ray Turner.

“At one point we thought we were going to hit eight, nine or ten goals, after being three-up in 15 minutes.

“We had chance after chance but just couldn’t add a fourth.

“Team Bury then scored from the penalty spot just before the break and that changed everything, because they went in at half-time with their tails up.

“The next goal was always going to be crucial and it went to them, so we were left hanging on and pleased to hear the final whistle.

“It just shows that if you don’t take your chances, you’re always vulnerable. Even so, we still won the game and although it would have been good for the goals for column, it doesn’t make much difference if you win 3-2 or 10-1. It’s still three points.”

Turner was delighted for two-goal hero Eaton.

“The irony is that he could have scored four and missed two other chances that were easier than the ones he scored,” he said.

“But it’s hard to be critical because he scored another two that won us the game.

“He’s a very important player for us.”

Holland are fourth in the table but now the coastal side switch their attention back to the Vase.

They have a second qualifying round showdown at Hertfordshire side Wodson Park, from Spartan South Midlands League division one, on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

“They’re another step six side so it’s a winnable game,” added Turner.

“The Vase is a great competition and you can create some fantastic memories to look back on, when you play teams and go to places you don’t normally go.

“We’re looking forward to it and just need to concentrate on our own game-plan and how we approach the match.” Holland return to Thurlow Nunn League action at Woodbridge Town next Friday.
