HUNDREDS of visitors trotted along to a bank holiday summer fete at the Harwich Horse Rangers.

It was the second ever event at the group’s new home at Ramsey Manor Care Home in Michaelstowe Drive.

Children showcased their riding skills in a display as well as performing dance routines for the crowds. Sioux Thorpe, managing director of the charity, said: “We had a fete last year, just a small one to celebrate being there really.

“This year was much bigger, it was really good.

“We had a huge response from stallholders that wanted to come.

“We didn’t charge entry but there was a constant flow of cars - we had a few hundred come along.

“We didn’t do it as a fundraiser but we raised more than £300, which we were looking for to buy a new field shelter.”

The group, which teaches horse riding to children from the age of eight, is now looking towards it’s last phase of work at the new base to clear an area to create more car parking.

It is hoped to be finished by October.
