DRINK drivers are being named and shamed as a deterrent to others.

Essex Police has convicted a further two people for drink driving offences on top of the 107 arrested during the campaign in June.

Alana Clarke, 29, has been disqualified for 17 months following her arrest on June 17.

Clarke, of Wellstye Green, Basildon, was also fined £190 and ordered to pay £75 in court costs.

James Rixson, is banned for 36 months as a result of drink driving.

The 30-year-old, of Bedford Road, Grays, was fined £350 and must pay £115 in costs.

Adam Pipe, casualty reduction manager at Essex Police, said: “Every day we see people arrested for drink or drug driving and it's simply not acceptable.

“It's a reckless act and even a small amount of alcohol or drugs in your system can impair your ability to react behind the wheel.

“If you drink or drug drive it is only a matter of time before you’re caught."
