A TRAINING provider for disadvantaged young people has been rated ‘good’ in every area by education watchdogs.

The Consultancy Home Counties (TCHC) , which has a centre in Clacton, educates 16-19-year-olds in areas such as support in employment, development in the workplace, and support with redundancy.

Ofsted rated the provider as good across the board, including for quality of teaching, behaviour and leadership.

The programme has 37 students enrolled across the East of England, including Clacton, Cambridge, Thurrock, Watford, Basildon and Norwich.

Teenagers who use the service can come from disadvantaged backgrounds, have previously had a poor time in school or have had no formal education at all.

It aims to prepare young people for the future by improving maths and English skills, and providing work experience in vocational areas.

The students of TCHC said they felt like they were treated like adults in a safe and secure environment.

Chief exec Rose Lavin said: “I’d like to thank the staff and management teams for their enthusiasm and commitment.

"Their hard work has demonstrated significant and substantial improvement and with their commitment TCHC will gain an outstanding next time.”
