FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire in a mid-terraced house in Clacton last night after neighbours heard crackling and raised the alarm.
When crews arrived at the property in Ellis Road just before 10pm they reported the fire was in the lean-to next and the fire was also affecting the house.
They managed to extinguish the fire by 10:40am.
The downstairs of the property has suffered damage from the fire and smoke.
An investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the fire.
Firefighters from Clacton and Weeley went to the blaze.
