PARENTS and residents are being urged to have their say on proposals for the expansion of a primary school in Holland-on-Sea.

Essex County Council wants to create 105 new places at Holland Haven Primary School, boosting its capacity from 315 pupils to 420.

The proposals will be discussed during two drop-in sessions at the school on June 29 at 2.30pm and 4pm.

The project would enable the school to take an extra 15 reception pupils each year from September 2019, as well as creating space for additional pupils to be taken in older year groups.

County Hall education boss Ray Gooding said: “A record percentage of children in Essex who are due to start reception in September were offered a place at their parents’ preferred school.

“Our ongoing investment in school places is vital in maintaining such a strong track record and we are planning to spend about £230million on creating new mainstream school places over the next three years.

“Holland Haven Primary School is a good and popular school, and these proposals would allow extra children to benefit from the high standard of education on offer.”

People unable to attend the drop-in sessions can view the proposals and complete a questionnaire at essex.gov.uk/schoolconsultations The deadline for responses is July 7.
