FRINTON'S Ottilie Robinson-Shaw is celebrating after being picked to represent Great Britain at this winter's World Championships, in Argentina.

The 15-year-old will compete in two categories - freestyle kayak and squirt boat.

Selections were held over three weekends in Cardiff and Nottingham.

Robinson-Shaw gained her highest-ever International Canoe Federation competition points score at them, putting her in pole position.

It is the latest highlight in a string of successes.

She also recently won the Welsh Open Championship freestyle kayak junior title, retaining her position for the second year running. She gained the highest points score in both the junior and senior women categories.

Robinson-Shaw also won the Welsh Open Championship BoaterX, starting on a high-level ramp and leading to white water running on ten cumecs.

She competed in the Nottingham Freestyle League BoaterX, winning the mixed junior title, with the senior winner being Olympic gold medalist Etienne Stott.

And to put the cherry on the cake, Robinson-Shaw recently had a further boost after being contacted by the European team manager of the prestigious Team Jackson, based in America.

He said he had been watching her progress since winning bronze at last year's European Championships.

He has offered her a place on the regional team - making her the first junior in the UK to be invited onto Team Jackson.

She has also been offered a place on the junior team.

"Team Jackson is the ultimate kudos in kayaking and it's awesome," she said.

"I'm on a team with the greatest paddlers."

Robinson-Shaw will next be travelling to Canada to train at the Garb, in Ottawa. This is one of the most diverse rivers in the world.
