A VINTAGE British car which featured in the classic 1942 film Casablanca has gone up for sale – for £128,000.
The iconic 1919 24HP Sunbeam is seen carrying police through the crowded streets of the Moroccan city in the early moments of the Second World War romantic drama.
The rare vehicle, which is nearly 100 years old and was formerly owned by the Warner Brothers movie company, was subject to a £160,000 four-year restoration three years ago.
It is now being sold by Vintage & Prestige Classic Cars, based in Grays.
A company spokesman said: “This car was one of the first off the production line following the end of the First World War. During the war the Sunbeam Motor Car Company, in Wolverhampton, had stopped production of cars in order to concentrate on the manufacture of aero engines for military use.
“This is a car that may be bought, rallied and used with absolute confidence as everything that can be done to the car has been done to it. It is immaculate and in first-class mechanical condition. Driving it is a pleasure.”
