A TALENT show already televised and which has had a cameo within a national touring play is coming to a coastal town near you.

Jaywick's Got Talent is back for its third year having been branded "the best talent event in the world" by organiser and YouTube personality Danny Sloggett.

Whether you are a musician, dancer, singer or magician, acts from across Essex are invited to join the JGT stage where they will be scored by a panel of judges - Steve Garrett, owner of Eldo Bar in Jaywick, Donna Mimms, of Jaywick Sands Happy Club, and former Clacton councillor Dan Casey.

The winning performance will walk away with £50, leaving £30 for the runner-up and £20 for third place.

He said: "Last year 15 acts performed - it was brilliant. The eldest person was in their eighties.

"I want to show the world Jaywick isn't as bad as everyone says - there's no stigma.

"There are talented people here and in the surrounding areas, and if I had it my way, I'd create a franchise and take this to other towns to make people's dreams come true.

"More importantly, it's about helping people to help themselves, and have self-belief."

Known for broadcasting on Sloggett Vision, Danny first shot to fame on Channel 5 as a reality star on Benefits by the Sea: Jaywick, in 2015.

A poster boy for the town, his aim is to get the world talking about Jaywick again - for all the right reasons.

He said: "The producers of the show asked me to create an event for TV and I thought a talent show would be great.

"Ten million viewers tuned in all over the world to watch the first Jaywick's Got Talent which ended series one and I had lots of people contact me to do it again.

"Off the back of the TV show, Dan Murphy then wrote Carry on Jaywick and he wanted the play to end in the same way as the TV series.

"To see Graham O'Mara play me on stage is amazing and for JGT to be on Channel 5 is awesome - you can't get bigger than that.

"This is a show for the people and I want it to carry on for all of my eternity."

The event takes place on Saturday, June 24, at St Christopher's Church, Meadow Way, Jaywick, from 7pm until 9pm.
