A CHARITY in Tendring has received a much-needed cash boost of £5,000 to buy new equipment.

Tendring Specialist Stroke Services, based in Holland-on-Sea, was presented with a cheque from the Tendring Council’s Chairman’s fund.

During Jayne Chapman’s year in office she has raised a total of £13,401 from a whole range of different activities and events.

She has already handed over £6,500 to the Swimming Trust, most of which has been used to provide subsidised courses to train up swimming instructors.

The remaining £1,901 is to be spent on a further swimming initiative, possibly to do with schools.

Mrs Chapman said that she was delighted to have been able to hand over the cheque to TSSS.

“They do a truly fantastic job and a vital lifeline for many people across our District and help them to live better lives,” she said.

The cheque was presented to Rosemary Garrey, director of operations at TSSS, who said that the money will be spent on new IT equipment, especially iPad type tablets.

Mrs Chapman thanked all those who had contributed to helping her raise such a large amount during her 12 months as chairman.
