A HOMELESS man has been jailed for two years after he turned up to a drugs raid carrying a baseball bat and wraps of heroin.

Ibreham Miah, 18, of no fixed address, turned up at Tammy Huntley’s home in Little Searles, Pitsea, while police were executing a warrant on December 6 last year.

Basildon Crown Court heard that Huntley, 34, had allowed her home to be used as a base for drug dealing. Police discovered £5,000 worth of class A and B drugs inside.

Inside a sock on a shelf in the living room officers found 39 wraps of crack cocaine and 42 of heroin.

In an upstairs bedroom officers also found a box containing 183 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin, as well as 65 grams of amphetamine.

While officers were searching the premises, Miah walked in. He was searched and was found to be concealing six wraps of heroin in his jacket, a baseball bat and £75 in cash.

Huntley was charged with two counts of allowing her premises to be used to supply class A drugs, one count of possessing a class B drug with intent to supply and a further count of possessing criminal property. She admitted the charges.

She was jailed for 20 months, suspended for two years, and was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

Miah was jailed for two years’ after admitting two counts of possessing a class A drug with intent to supply and possession of an offensive weapon.

PC Dan Onley, from the Operation Raptor drugs squad, which carried out the warrant as it cracks down on gang crime across the county, said: “The significant amount of drugs found in Huntley’s home was clear evidence of her involvement in supplying drugs to the wider community. As for Miah, he now has two years to contemplate his behaviour.

“We hope this sentencing sends out a clear message to those involved in the supply of illegal drugs that they will have no place to hide from Essex Police.”
