A HISTORIC theatre is getting a mini facelift after scooping a £10,000 giveaway prize.
The West Cliff, in Clacton, will get new windows and doors thanks to construction firm SEH BAC, which ran the competition.
Theatre trust chairman Norman Jacobs is thrilled the West Cliff has been chosen.
"Some of the windows are in desperate need of replacing," he said.
"All the windows are about 20 years old and the frames are falling out so we'd been talking about replacing them for some time, but the cost of doing something like that had been putting us off.
"Then we saw SEH BAC in Colchester were going to supply a charity or local community group so we applied."
Theatre bosses were expecting to have to raise up to £15,000 to carry out the work.
Mr Jacobs said: "That sort of money is difficult to find without a subsidy or grant so it was just what we wanted."
The theatre also has a new £2,400 safety curtain after Clacton Rotary helped out with a grant.
Work on the new energy-efficient windows and doors is expected to start later this year.
