A FLOOD alert has been issued for the Tendring coast due to expected high tide levels.

The Flood Information Service said high tide levels are expected due to the combination of high spring tides and a tidal surge.

The forecast high water is due at Clacton on January 11 at 11pm.

The forecast tide level is 3.05m.

The agency said it will continue to monitor levels closely.

A 'flood alert' means flooding is possible and people should be prepared, but the status is not as serious as a 'flood warning' or a 'severe flood warning'.
